February 9, 2009 Leave a comment

Jon Morley talks to SICS careers adviser Gill Sharp about his experiences in developing a career as a poet.

Jon talks about the creative process of writing, and reads two of his poems to illustrate what inspires him. He explains how to make a living as a poet, finding compatible supplementary work, applying for funding and the role of competitions and awards in developing your career. He also talks about his project setting up a new poetry press, HeavenTree Press, with £100,000 of funding from the Arts Council England.

This podcast is the first in a series of four SICS podcasts on careers using the written word, funded by the Higher Education Academy.
